This information can be useful when there is a problem in turning on the computer. When we start the PC, we can hear several “beeps” which show us how our hardware is.
First we’ll have to identify which type of BIOS we have. We can see that as soon as we turn on the computer, it tells us the type and the version. If we don’t have time to see this, we simply enter in the BIOS configuration and there we can find this information. To enter in this configuration, each manufacturer determines a button with which we can access it. It’s normally ESC, but it can also be F2, F10 and other buttons. We can find this information in the instructions of the base board.
BIOS AMI (American Megatrends) beep codes
No beep. No power, system board problem, the speaker don´t work.
1 short beep. Computer is OK.
2 short beeps. Graphic card or RAM memory problem.
3 short beeps. Graphic card or RAM memory problem.
4 short beeps. Graphic card or RAM memory problem. System timer failure.
5 short beeps. RAM memory not detected.
6 short beeps. Keyboard controller error.
7 short beeps. Processor is not good.
8 short beeps. Video card isn't working.
9 short beeps. BIOS bad.
10 short beeps. The BIOS can not write and read the CMOS.
11 short beeps. Cache memory error.
1 long 2 short beeps. Graphic card error.
1 long 3 short beeps. Extended memory failure.
1 long 8 short beeps. Display/retrace test failed.

Continus beep. No power, system board problem.
3 continus beeps. There's a bad chip on the motherboard.
1 long beep. RAM memory failure.
1 long 1 short beep. BIOS bad.
